About Us
The Feisty Fighters began in 2005 when the founding member’s sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was an “awakening” for the family and therefore, the FEISTY FIGHT began.
The team started small, but the team quickly grew, and the funds did too! Over a few years, this growing group of FEISTY women realized that they could achieve more, help more, and make a bigger impact in this FIGHT against cancer!
Through the years, the Feisty Fighters of SD have supported top notch local organizations who are committed to finding a cure. We have supported Avera, Susan G. Komen of SD, and Sanford. However, it was in 2015 that the Feisty Fighters started the grant program in order to provide financial assistance to local cancer patients during their battle with cancer. The applications started coming in and the stories of basic needs not being met were heartbreaking. It was clear our grant program was serving a gap in in our community. So today, we reserve our funds to provide grants to those most in need during their cancer treatment.
Our mission is “Bringing hope and help to those fighting cancer”. We serve this mission by providing financial support to cancer patients through the Feisty Fighters grant program. As you can imagine, this financial support comes at a crucial time when finances at home are tight due to missing work for treatments, accumulating medical bills, gasoline to get to appointment, medications, co-pays, wigs, hotel stay and so much more.
The Feisty Fighters continues to be a volunteered based organization. We are bless with our group of supporters who directly impact the lives of those affected by cancer. We are proud of what we do – because we know that every dollar counts and every LIFE matters!
